The Arts run deep in my family. My grandfather was an accomplished string musician, my uncle spent many years playing brass with the orchestra at Hance Pavilion in Piqua, and my father shared with me his knack of “If I see it, I can make it.” As an accomplished woodworker, he’s built fishing boats and the most amazing carved rocking horses. From a very young age, I found serenity in doodling and coloring the world around me.

Life moved forward, and as I graduated from high school, I pondered my career choices. My heart was set on Graphic Arts, but without a way to pursue that dream, I made the choice to put myself through Nursing school. But I never gave up my dream of art. I just put it on the backburner for a while.

Marriage and children followed, and although I continued to work as an RN around my kids’ schedules, I was still able to find time to get my hands dirty. I created art for friends and family, and the occasional piece for myself. I knew that someday I’d find a way to get back to what I love most. Art.

In early 2015, I began working part-time as an instructor with Studio 14 Fine Arts Center in Tipp City, Ohio. My goal was to bring non-artists into the studio for Sip ‘n Paint events and show them that art is for EVERYONE. It’s just a matter of breaking down the parts into pieces. There’s nothing better than seeing smiles after a class and knowing they’ve truly surprised themselves with art they love.

In March 2017, my someday arrived. I found this perfectly empty storefront in beautiful downtown Troy, which is now known as the Studio 14 Creative Arts Center. My goal is to continue to build upon the ‘Art for All’ premise, by offering classes in a variety of media, taught by talented artists in their own right. I want Studio 14 to be a fun and social art experience for everyone, and most of all, I want you to LOVE your art!

As a special note, I would like to thank my husband, Mark, for his unwavering support in this endeavor. He is my partner, woodworker, troubleshooter, and all-around maintenance guy. Thanks to his countless hours behind the scenes, my dream has come true.
